Louisiana Tech's Olu Ashalou has been selected as the StatSheet WAC Player of the Week for the week ending December 20th. Kenyon McNeaill from Louisiana Tech has won StatSheet's WAC Freshman of the Week. Also, Paul Noonan takes home StatSheet's WAC 6th Man of the Week.
Ashalou was the WAC leader in rebounding (11.5 per game). He also tallied great stats in scoring (16.5 pts per game) and shooting (70%). The Louisiana Tech junior marched the Bulldogs to victories against Houston Baptist and Texas-Arlington.
Ashalou led the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding with 21 points and 13 rebounds in a big 80-57 win against Houston Baptist. He then added 12 points and 10 rebounds in a narrow 62-61 victory over Texas-Arlington.
This is the first time that Olu Ashalou has been named the StatSheet WAC Player of the Week. However, he has been named a runner-up once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Tai Wesley, a senior from Utah State. Honorable mention goes to junior Zane Johnson from Hawaii. The highest ranking player from Boise State was Daequon Montreal who finished 6th.
StatSheet WAC Freshman of the Week: Louisiana Tech's Kenyon McNeaill
Kenyon McNeaill averaged 32 minutes of playing time starting both games for Louisiana Tech. In the win over Houston Baptist, McNeaill registered 9 points and 3 assists. In the win over Texas-Arlington, he added 11 points and 2 assists.
This is a first for Kenyon McNeaill, who has never won the StatSheet WAC Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Keith Shamburger from San Jose State. Honorable mention goes to Bracken Funk from Fresno State. The highest ranking freshman from Boise State was Ryan Watkins who finished 9th.
StatSheet WAC 6th Man of the Week: Boise State's Paul Noonan
Senior Paul Noonan, a 6-7 reserve forward, averaged 25 minutes of action over two games for the Broncos. In an 86-84 loss to Utah, Noonan added 2 rebounds and 3 assists. During a strong 91-62 win against Texas-Pan American, he led all scoring with 13 points and added 6 rebounds.
Paul Noonan has won the StatSheet WAC 6th Man of the Week an amazing 3 times. Douglas Kurtz, a senior center from Hawaii, is runner up. Chris Jones, a sophomore guard from San Jose State, receives honorable mention.
Boise State has yet to win StatSheet WAC Player of the Week.
