Wyoming's Leonard Washington has been selected as the StatSheet Mountain West Player of the Week for the week ending February 6th. Anthony Drmic has won StatSheet Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Finally, UNLV's Quintrell Thomas is StatSheet's Mountain West 6th Man of the Week. Washington put up a strong showing in shooting (60%), rebounding (6.5 per game), and scoring (18.5 pts per game). The Wyoming junior played well for the Cowboys in a win against 11th ranked UNLV and a loss to TCU.
Washington led all scoring for the Cowboys with 21 points on 80% shooting in a 58-52 loss to TCU. He then led all scoring and rebounding with a 16 point and 7 rebound performance in a narrow 68-66 victory over UNLV.
This is the second StatSheet Mountain West Player of the Week award for Leonard Washington. He has also received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is UNLV junior Anthony Marshall. Honorable mention goes to senior Oscar Bellfield from UNLV.
StatSheet Mountain West Freshman of the Week: Boise State's Anthony Drmic
Anthony Drmic averaged 35 minutes while starting both games for Boise State. He led all Mountain West freshmen in both rebounding (5.5 per game) and three pointers (2.0 per game). In a 58-56 loss to San Diego State, Drmic led all scoring for the Broncos with 17 points and all rebounding with 7. Following that in a 65-49 loss to New Mexico, he added 7 points and 4 rebounds.
Amazingly, Anthony Drmic has won the StatSheet Mountain West Freshman of the Week 3 times. Our own Derrick Marks gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Kamryn Williams from Air Force.
StatSheet Mountain West 6th Man of the Week: UNLV's Quintrell Thomas
Junior Quintrell Thomas, a 6-8 forward, averaged 18 minutes of action over two games for the Rebels. In an 82-63 win against Colorado State, Thomas added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Then in a 68-66 loss to Wyoming, he led all scoring with 15 points on 83% shooting.
This is the first StatSheet Mountain West 6th Man of the Week honor for Quintrell Thomas. Deshawn Stephens, a junior forward from San Diego State, is the runner up. Demetrius Walker, a sophomore guard from New Mexico, receives honorable mention. Boise State has yet to win StatSheet Mountain West Player of the Week.
